Rose water, citrus, cardamom and almonds, with fluffy yet moist and pleasing texture, a sprinkling of pistachios and rose petals on top, this cake definitely has a complex flavour.
There is a legend related to how this cake came about but when you dig deeper, the legend has two different endings.
A Persian woman falls in love with a Persian prince and decides to create and send as a love gift a cake so unique and scrumptious, that he would instantly fall in love with her. In one version the Prince does, in the other version he doesn’t and the woman ends up eating the whole cake herself.
