The traditional Lemon Drizzle Cake is made of two sponges, each drizzled with lemon syrup, lightly filled with a zesty buttercream and finished with a lemon sugar frosting.
It is a lighter, less sweet option than the Lemon Layer Cake, which a is four layer cake, covered in buttercream.

During lockdown, my husband and I wanted to surprise our daughter, who lived ten miles away, with something special for her birthday.
