An American Cake recipe with intense red colour sponges, filled with cream cheese frosting and a signature flavour people cannot figure out.
It is vanilla but not vanilla only. It has a tiny bit of cocoa and a touch of a sour note to it. A delectable combination that creates one not so sweet cake and incredibly moreish.
This is a four layer cake, well filled with a great ratio between sponge and filling.
A quick note on the decoration options. Cream cheese frosting is wonderful to enjoy but it is a lot softer, with a higher moisture level than buttercream, which makes it unsuitable for heavy decorating.

During lockdown, my husband and I wanted to surprise our daughter, who lived ten miles away, with something special for her birthday.
